Nobody Saves the World - Frozen Hearth DLC
DrinkBox Studios
After a quite successful launch of Nobody Saves the World, a DLC for it was in the works. At that time, there was a bit of programming and content editing, but mostly testing and localization verification.
Frozen Hearth introduced two new forms: Killer Bee and Mechanic. I took part in writing some code that defined their appearance in the user interface and some achievement triggers that were tied to DLC progression.
It was the first time I was able to tinker with our proprietary engine. Working with proprietary engines might be challenging but rewarding in the sense that you start to understand where things are with the project you are working on. And when it’s time to upgrade the engine, you’ll have an idea how to do it just by hearing the request. Well, more complex (or just well hidden) things take a while; I can’t lie there, but overall, working with the custom engine and its source code is a great benefit and an awesome experience to have for a game developer.
